An 8-year-old boy was struck and killed by a pickup truck Monday evening in Hunt County, the sheriff said.
Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks said a passing Ford F-250 struck the child when he ran into the street to catch his dog at about 5:15 p.m.
The child was hit in front of a home south of Caddo Mills on Farm-to-Market 36, just north of Interstate 30.
The driver stopped after the crash and is cooperating with investigators. The Department of Public Safety said it is too early to tell if the driver will be charged.
