Dallas police say they have arrested a man for attacking his own mother and stepfather.
Officers say the man choked his mother, then tried to push her down the stairs. He's also accused of attacking his stepfather.
The fight started just before 11 p.m. Sunday at Meadows North Condominiums on the 8000-block of Meadows Road, and sparked a SWAT standoff.
Police say the parents accused the son of stealing tools from the family business. The mom tells police that her son got so mad that he wrapped both hands around her neck, strangled her until she couldn't breathe, then tried to shove her down the stairs.
Investigators say the man ran out of the complex and confronted his stepfather in the parking lot and is accused of ramming his car into his stepdad's car. Police say the men also got into a physical fight.
The man then retreated to the apartment and barricaded himself inside. Officers learned he had access to a gun, so the SWAT team moved in. He managed to slip out before police surrounded the complex. Officers say they found the man, reportedly drunk, in a breezeway. Police say he resisted arrested and had to be tazed to be taken into custody.
Police say the man is in jail facing four charges for strangulation and assault.
