Godley police are investigating a deadly hit-and-run along FM 2331 near CR 1230 Friday morning.
Police say they received a call at about 1:30 a.m. about a one-car crash. When officers arrived, they saw a woman, who'd been struck, in the road.
The person who hit her did not call 9-1-1 or stop to help. The hit-and-run is now a criminal case.
The woman was driving a Chevrolet pick-up when she lost control around a curb and rolled over in a field, according to authorities.
At this point, officials are not sure if she was ejected or walked away, but she was in the road when she was struck and killed.
Police say they have no witnesses at this point.
Based on skid marks seen by officers, the driver that hit the woman might have been driving an 18-wheeler, according to police.
This happened on a two-lane undivided highway with no street lights.
The victim was a 49-year-old woman whose identity has not been released.
Authorities say alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
DPS is also involved in the investigation.
