Organizers Look Forward to Monday's MLK Parade In Dallas
The Elite News Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade will roll down MLK Blvd. in Dallas Monday at 10am. Darryl Blair with Elite News talked with NBC 5's Lindsay Wilcox about it.

The Annual Elite News Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade and Festival will begin promptly at 10:00 am at the corner of Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard & Lamar Street in Dallas. The parade will proceed eastbound on Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. towards Fair Park. The parade ranks as one of the top five celebrations commemorating Dr. King in the country.
After the parade, head over to the Tower Building in Fair Park for the Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Festival including activities and events for all ages. Admission is free, so don't miss it!
The Elite News Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Parade and Festival is a historical community event held in Dallas, Texas to commemorate and celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., prominent leader of the modern American Civil Rights Movement. Proceeds from the annual event provide scholarships to local high school seniors in their pursuit of a higher education.
Highlights for this year's parade include an opening performance by Dallas Black Dance Theatre II, NFL Hall of Fame Legend Earl Campbell, Prairie View A&M Marching Storm Band, the mighty Callaway High School Marching Band of Jackson, Mississippi, Ronald McDonald, comedian Earthquake, actress KiKi Shephard and many more.
The festival features celebrity appearances by NFL Hall of Fame Legend Earl Campbell, comedian Earthquake, actress KiKi Shepard, hip hop artist Paul Wall and a host of others riding in the parade with Ronald McDonald on hand to greet young spectators. Area health and wellness resource centers will be set up, along with many restaurants and caterers providing food and beverages. Admission to the festival is free.
PARADE INFORMATION:
The parade is set for Monday, January 21, starting at 10:00 a.m. The parade route will begin on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Lamar Street and continue eastbound on Martin Luther King Jr. ending at Robert B. Cullum Boulevard. There will be two (2) parade performances zones located at Atlanta Street and in front of the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center. Spectators are encouraged to get there early.
FESTIVAL INFORMATION:
The festival will be held on Monday, January 21, with doors opening to the public at 10:00 a.m. Admission is free to the general public.
