Two Dead in Apparent Domestic Dispute
DeSoto police are still trying to piece together a domestic dispute that left two people dead.
DeSoto police are still trying to piece together a domestic dispute that left two people dead in an apparent murder-suicide.
DeSoto Police Captain Ron Smith tells NBC 5 that a man and woman were found dead in a home on the 700 block of Timber Trail Tuesday.
Smith did say that early information indicates that the couple involved was going through a divorce and that the divorce was finalized on that day.
Smith wouldn't confirm the names, but friends and family members who talked to police identified the victims as Catina Murphy and Andre Murphy.
Investigators say the man apparently fatally shot the woman before taking his own life at the home of one of her relatives.
Jermaine Pearson, a cousin of Andre Murphy, told NBC 5 that the couple had a 7-year-old daughter who is now staying with other family members. She was not injured.
"She's going to be fine," Pearson said. "She has a very great support group. Not only her grandmother, her family in Lancaster, it's a huge family, and we all love the child as we love the parents."
