Dallas police arrested a woman early Friday after Texas Department of Transportation cameras show she was driving the wrong way on U.S. Highway 75.

The incident happened shortly before 4 a.m. Officers managed to pull over and arrest Tiffany Amber Summitt, 33, charging her with DWI.

Video from TxDOT traffic cameras shows a vehicle heading south in the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 75 in the area of the High Five interchange at Interstate 635 in north Dallas.

In 2011, the most recent year for which there is data available, there were 3,088 wrong way crashes on Texas roads, according to the TxDOT. Those crashes resulted in 213 deaths.

According to a 2004 study from the Texas Transportation Institute and Texas A & M University, wrong way crashes are most likely to happen between midnight and six a.m., With the most frequent time period being from 2 - 3 a.m.

Wrong-way crashes most commonly occur in the left lane of the highway, according to the study, because the driver at fault believes they are in the right lane.  And more than half of the wrong way drivers had some influence of alcohol or drugs cited by the investigating officer, according to the study.
