Avion Village in Grand Prairie honored one of their oldest residents Sunday.

Built in the midst of World War II, Avion Village has had many of its residents come and go over the years.  Except one.

For 70-years, Harold Freeman has called the quaint community home. "There were no houses here," Freeman remembers. "It was just the cotton fields so a lot of these people walked to work."

On Sunday, friends and neighbors are celebrated his 100th birthday. "[He's] someone you can call on at any hour of the night and you can count on. He's a good neighbor," Andy Little, the president of the Avion Village board of directors said.

To recognize their long-tenured resident, the community renamed one of its main thoroughfares.

Avion parkway will know be known as freeman parkway.

"Now I know understand why I spent 16 long years as on the board of directors," Freeman quipped.
