A Dallas man was killed after two suspects tried to rob him, police say.
Neighbors say it happened around 1 o'clock on Sunday morning. Relatives say the man was walking home with a friend after playing cards in the neighborhood.
Police say two suspects tried to rob him on the 2400 block of Hawthorne, in the Oak Lawn section of the city.
48-year old Jose Salazar, may have tried to fend him off, according to relatives. He was shot and died at the scene.
"I'm just missing him, because he's a good man, friendly, he's a good worker, all time he's working," said family friend Sylvia Izeta.
She said he was a father of four, and a husband. His family is still in Mexico.
The suspects according to Dallas Police, are still at large, causing neighbors to be worried it may happen again.
Just two days before Christmas, a family is torn, saddened by the loss.
"Imagine, it's no good Christmas, because father is no longer with family," said Izeta.
