An explosion and fire has been reported at an oil storage facility in Van Zandt County.
According to information from the Van Zandt County Fire Marshal, Chuck Allen, the facility is on state Highway 110 north of Van, Texas.
Around 3 a.m., emergency responders got a call about a fire at an oil well. Multiple fire departments responded to the scene and are actively trying to contain the fire.
There are six large storage tanks at the facility, three of which have already exploded and were on fire. The fire marshal is working to identify which company owns the storage facility.
Two burn victims, both 24-years-old, have been reported and transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital, according to information from Van Zandt fire officials.
One of the victims, a 24-year-old female, is reportedly on life support, while the other, a 24-year-old male, has burns to his face, chest, and arms.
The names of both the victims are being withheld until next of kin is notified. Neither person was identified to be employees of the oil company responsible for the facility.
According to Van Zandt County Fire Marshal, Chuck Allen, the two victims were allegedly trepassing on the property and smoking on top of the storage tanks when they exploded.
